Here is the story of one of the worst disasters in American history, a tragedy in 1889 which claimed more than 2,200 lives, and wiped out 99 entire families. It is the story of heartbreak, heroism and courage. Pennsylvania's South Fork Dam exploded and unleashed a 40-foot wall of water. The flood devastated the valley below under the force of a 20-million-ton tidal wave.
