The Big Picture 그리고 싶은 것
"Please be joined us and make Peace for our children.",
a letter from Japan began. In 2007, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese publishers set out to simultaneously release illustrated books reflecting their thoughts about Peace. Korean picture book author Kwon Yoon-duk decides to deal with "Comfort Women", enforced sexual slaves by the Japanese military during World War II, based on the account of one victim Shim Dal-yeon. Though the author Kwon was initially encouraged by fellow writers for the project, her past wounds forgotten for years start to haunt her and face the unexpected situations. Meanwhile upcoming Korean and Japanese authors start a heated debate over her sketch and the completion of the picture book seems to drift further out of reach. Japanese publishers finally put off releasing her books in Japan with no promise. Could she deliver her message to children?
